The management of construction work, including the selection and control of contractors is governed by the CDM Regulations 2007

These regulations apply from the feasibility study through to the hand over of the completed structure to the customer.

The key aim of these regulations is to integrate health and safety into the management of a project and to encourage everyone involved to work together.

Construction work is notifiable to the HSE if the project lasts longer than 30 days or will involve more than 500 person days of work unless the work is for a domestic client.

The regulations state that for any notifiable project the client must appoint a CDM Co-ordinator.
